First Communion Classes:

Spirit Youth and Family Fellowship (SPYFF) meets on Wednesday evenings starting at 5:15 pm during the school year and includes craft time, choirs, Bible time, and supper. This is a wonderful opportunity for children from kindergarten through high school to come and learn more about Jesus, build relationships, and grow in their spiritual journeys. Parents are welcome, too.

Spirit Youth Worship is held at 6:30 pm (following SPYFF) on Wednesday evenings during the school year. This is an upbeat youth service which includes camp-style music, puppets, and a message designed for the youth.

Youth Alpha is held on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm during the school year. This is a study designed for high school students to ask questions and learn about the Bible as they grow in their faith journey. Also discussed are current events, movies, etc.

Confirmation classes are held Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm during the school year. This is for 7th through 9th grade students and is an in-depth look at their lives of faith, the teachings of the Lutheran Church, and the Bible.

Lutherdale Camp is a retreat camp for the youth of area churches where our students can go to meet other youth, learn about the Word of God, and enjoy many activities.

Youth Choirs:
Our Savior's Lutheran Church has a youth choir that meets on Wednesday nights during SPYFF. All youth are invited to join us.

National Youth Gatherings:
Every three years the youth from the community are invited to go to the National Youth Gathering. This is a wonderful time to gather with 20,000 other youth from across the country and see how faith is lived out in daily life. The 2009 NYO will be held in New Orleans.

Annual Mission Trips:
Our youth take annual mission trips throughout the country where they can use their gifts and learn about other people and the needs of the world. We have gone to Chicago in the past and went to Denver in the summer of 2008.

Sunday School:
Sunday School classes meet at 9:45 am on Sunday mornings (following the children’s sermon in the 9:30 am worship service.)Youth from 3 years old up are invited to join us.

Summer Internship Program:
This program is designed to help college-age students learn more about the church by working in the church for the summer. Students need to have completed at least one year of college to apply.

Vacation Bible Study:
Vacation Bible Study was held August 11-14, 2008 from 5:15 pm to 7:30 pm. The theme for this year was Veggie Tales "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything." Each day the kids learned about a different hero of the Bible, but, VBS was not just for kids--it's an intergenerational family event. VBS started with dinner at 5:15 and two different adult education options were offered while the kids were doing their activities. VBS is inspirational and fun for people of all ages. Please join in the fun. VBS 2009 details will be available in early summer 2009.

First Communion Classes:
First Communion Classes meet once a year, normally for 5th grade students. Students are invited to attend a class where they learn about Holy Communion, and after the class each student’s family chooses a date they’d like to have their First Communion.
