Pastor Erik Jelinek

Length of service: I have been serving here at Our Savior's since December 2003 with my wife and co-pastor Jennifer.

Favorite Bible passage: This is a tough one, since there so many and different passages speak to me at different parts of my life.  The one the has been speaking to me the most lately is John 3:8 - The wind (spirit) blows where it chooses.  The Spirit leads us to places and people we never expect and does such wonderful things in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

About me: I was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and lived in a number of places before our family settled down in Billings, MT, where I spend most of my life.  My mom stills lives in Billings, my sister and her two children live in Florida and my father passed away last in 2007.  I am married to a wonderful woman who blesses me each and every day, have a 5 year old daughter who opens my eyes to the excitement of life, and we are expecting our second child in September.  This is the third parish I have served. My first was a two-point parish in Savage, MT. Then Pastor Jennifer and I served another two-point parish in Conrad, MT.  I enjoy reading, biking, fishing, hiking, camping, and spending time with my family.

Pastor Jennifer Jelinek

Length of service: I have been serving at Our Savior's Lutheran church since 2003, 11 years in ordained ministry.

Favorite Bible passage: That's like asking a parent to choose a favorite child!  Psalm 51 and John 4 are two favorites.

About me: I grew up in Cedarburg, WI. I attended Valparaiso University and Luther Seminary, where Pastor Erik and I met.  After ordination, Pastor Erik and I served a 2-point parish in Conrad, MT and were married.  Together, we have a 3-year-old daughter, Sierra, and a not-quite-one-year-old, Scarlett.  Other than family activities, I enjoy playing tennis, singing, and writing.

Barb Lansbery
Administrative Assistant

Length of service: I have been Administrative Assistant at Our Savior's since February 1996.  It has been a pleasure working with and for several pastors over these years.  I enjoy the interaction with the many wonderful people of this congregation.  I am a member of First Baptist of Beloit.  My job keeps evolving and I enjoy the changes.

Favorite Bible passage: 1 Corinthians 13:13 - "And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love."

About me: I am married and have five grown children.  Three children live in Madison, Wisconsin, one in Plainfield, Illinois, and one in Washington, D.C.  We are blessed with four grandchildren.  Away from work I enjoy kayaking, knitting, walking, yard work, and cooking when there is time.

Jon and Megan Nelson
Ministry Coordinators

Length of Service:
Since February 2010

Jon's Favorite Bible Passage: Isaiah 43: 1-3a - " ... When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.  For I am the Lord your God ... "

Megan's Favorite Bible Passage:
Hebrews 11:1 - "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

About Us:
Jon and Megan Nelson are excited to be taking over as Co-Ministry Coordinators at Our Savior’s.  Megan is a Business Education teacher at Beloit Turner High School, where she is also the adviser for Mock Trial and Forensics.  (By the way, the Mock Trial team earned a bid to the state tournament, and Forensics won conference!)  She is currently in her third year at Turner.  Jon works in Communication Services for the Association of Lutheran Development Executives, a nonprofit organization that provides educational and networking opportunities for people who do faith based fundraising and/or communications work.  Jon is also Principal of Nelson Business Communications.  Jon and Megan enjoy reading, playing Nintendo Wii, and going to Brewers games.  Both of them graduated from Luther College in 2007.  They look forward to serving you in their new role, and encourage you to come to them if you have any questions, ideas, or wish to serve the congregation in some way.  Thank you for your prayers and support!

Cheryl Licary

About Me: I have been involved with handbells for 10 to 11 years, and have been to several handbell clinics.  I am presently singing with the Cathedral choir at church, Choral Union at Janesville, Masterworks chorus at Beloit College, and Masterpiece Chorale of Elkhorn.  I also have a business of home repairs and am a landlord.  I have been married to Jackie for 19 years and live  “on” the Rock River.

Sandy Kazubowski

Favorite Bible passage: Just trying to keep up with the Ten Commandments.

About me: I was born in northwestern Wisconsin. I married in 1960 and have two daughters, three granddaughters, one grandson, and one great grandson. My most recent previous job before Our Savior's was as a cook in Minocqua, WI. After 21 years in northern Wisconsin my husband and I came to Beloit and moved my mom in with us. I love to read, garden, cook, knit, go fishing go camping, and spend as much time as possible enjoying family and friends.

Tom Trichinotis
Custodian

Length of Service:
Since late 2000

Favorite Bible passage:
John 6: 40 - "This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day."

About me: I was raised in Beloit and always had a hunger for God since the time I was a little boy.  I loved music but was not a musician - I hated notes and music score paper ... boring!
My Hunger for God led me on a long journey by many roads, but lead nowhere.  "Come unto me," said Jesus, and when you do, you have found the way.  Jesus is the answer.

About me:
I'm a semi-retired person, but work part time at Our Savior's.  I like to hunt and fish and also enjoy camping.  In addition, I'm married to my wonderful Norwegian wife, Sandy.  We are going to have our 50th anniversary this year on June 4th.

  Amy Lang
Director of Youth and Family Life

Length of Service: Since September 2009

Favorite Bible passage: Romans 12:9-18
"Love must be sincere.  Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.  Honor one another above yourselves.  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  Share with God's people who are in need.  Practice hospitality.  Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  Live in harmony with one another.  Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.  Do not be conceited.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

About me: Well, I have not only grown up on a pig farm, but I have grown up in this church.  It has been my home.  It is where I was baptized, attended Sunday School, confirmed, and share many memories.  After spending two summers as your college summer intern, I was very excited to hear about the youth director opening.  I graduated from Wartburg College (U-RAH, RAH, RAH, WARTBURG COLLEGE, U-RAH, RAH, RAH) in May of 2009 with a degree in Elementary Education. I am currently a first grade teacher in Pecatonica, Illinois.  I love my teaching job by day and enjoy my evening job as youth director by night.  Children have always been my passion so the teacher and youth director position are like my two dream jobs.  I am fortunate enough to interact with a many ages and get to still be a kid myself.  Thank you for welcoming me home and please remember, my door is always open!   Best Blessings.
